I first started playing Dungeons and Dragons when I was in high-school. I went to a library event with some friends and they taught me the basics of the game. It was so much fun that I decided to try running my own one-shot and it was a success! At least to me it was, haha. It wasn't until later on that I realized that I had played it completely wrong. I was first introduced to TTRPGs during 4th Edition and I loved it despite it not having a good reception.
So when 5e was released, I was ecstatic! So ecstatic that I stopped playing it until 2019. When I went to create a character, I wanted to have just a simple mobile application that can hold ALL of the information for my characters so that way I didn't have to print out the paper sheets (nothing wrong with those, I started out with paper but as a broke college student, I wasn't keen on bringing them with me everywhere) and I could just bring my phone to my friends house. There were other applications and websites that does exactly this but I found them to be a little bit overwhelming and out of date, and I wanted something that was simple to use and keep track of my health and stats and roll dice and keep track of my spells and notes and the list goes on.
I had taken some programming classes as a freshman but dabbled with ALOT of majors until I finally decided to stay in Computer Science. Taking more programming classes allowed me to say "Hey wait a minute. The things that I wanted for a D&D app, I can totally make myself!"
My wife and I started Magical Duck Studios LLC to share with the world our passion and creation for all things gaming. After hundreds of hours of debugging, I finally made an app that younger me wanted. I wanted to share it with the world and make it an app that everyone can love for a total beginner to a real life wizards.
